I’m writing this as I eat Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked right out of the container while our wood burning fireplace emits just a the slightest campfire scent. This has become my definition of a wild Saturday night and honestly, I’m not mad about it. There was a point in time when the idea of a quiet night in without a real plan would have really bothered me. This was especially true when I was living in Kingston through the week because I felt as though I needed to make time to see everyone and go to every event in the 48 hours I spent at home every other week. In hindsight, the pressure I put on myself to say 'yes’ to all of these plans is what ultimately led to the sheer dread I felt on Sunday nights when I realized I was officially out of time for the week.
I’ve been home for a couple of months now and interestingly, I’ve found myself committing to fewer plans than ever before. Perhaps it’s the lack of proximity since we now live a bit more off the beaten path, or perhaps a year and a half of travelling for work has lessened my give a damn; maybe it’s a bit of both. Above all, maybe it’s because I learned that the limited ‘free’ time we have doesn’t have to be filled with things we don’t really want to do; and that we don’t have to feel guilty about it. It is with this mindset that I have more to give when it comes to the things I’m REALLY passionate about and that has made all the difference.
So without further adieu, here’s the links for this week. And do me a fave, if you check any of them out, leave me a comment below so we can discuss - I’d love to hear your thoughts.
