3 Books to Read This Spring
Unlike every other lifestyle blog on the webosphere, I’m not about to jot down 25 books that you may or may not read just to show that I’m super cultured. Let’s face the facts, I’ll be lucky if you actually read even one of these but on the off chance that you do, you’ll really be getting the bang for your buck.
What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey
Before you start groaning about how sensationalized Oprah is, read this book. A collection of essays and short stories highlighting some of the most important lessons in Oprah’s life, What I Know For Sure is relatable and undeniably transferable to each situation we face in this adventure called life. My favourite tidbit? “What you put out comes back all the time, no matter what”, that is positivity breeds positivity just as negativity breeds negativity. The underlying message here is just be kind to each other and love yourself.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
I don’t care if you believe in God, Allah, Buddha, the Being of ultimate oneness, the universe or science; it doesn’t matter what Heaven is or isn’t from where you stand - THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Without spoiling the entire premise, know this: everyone you meet or encounter in your life has a purpose whether you realize it right now or not. So, because you never know who you might encounter again in this life or the next, just be kind to each other (seeing a trend?)
Start With Why by Simon Sinek
I recently jumped on the Simon Sinek train while sifting through seemingly endless amounts of information available for entrepreneurs and creatives and I’m glad I did. Simon is brilliant, yes, but eloquent and purposeful and you can’t help but to hang on his E V E R Y W O R D. The concept is simple, as consumers, people want to trust you; they want to believe that you believe in what you’re selling or writing or creating so you need to start with WHY you do it. And it all falls in place from there.
I’d love to know if you give these books a shot, let me know what you think!
Drop me a line if you’ve got a book recommendation you think I’ll LOVE!
