Adding a Touch of Spring to Home Decor

With today being the first day of Spring, I thought it might be nice to come up with some ideas to help brighten up your home décor. Check out the ideas below!

FLOWERS

For me, the most obvious place to start is with flowers. Nothing says Spring like bright and beautiful bouquets. Fresh flowers are ideal but making a faux arrangement with supplies from your local craft store makes for a flower arrangement that just keeps giving.  You can save a few bucks on the real thing if you pick flowers that are currently in season. For April think Tulips, Calla Lilies, Gerbera Daisies, Irises and Peonies. For May go with Orchids, Roses, Snap Dragons and Sunflowers

COLOURFUL OBJECTS

Continuing with colour, think about picking up a few bright pieces like vases, books or other knick knacks. Placing these on coffee tables or shelving units that you already own can change the look of your home almost instantly. If you’ve got the budget, gold furniture like side tables or picture frames can add some elegance and can complement various styles (Rustic, Beach House, Contemporary, Victorian) surprisingly well.

CHANGE YOUR SCENTS

Scents like Pumpkin Spice, Balsam Fir and Smores are typically reserved for the Fall and Winter seasons. They provide a feeling of comfort and warmth. Spring on the other hand is for fresh, new beginnings and growth. Grab some candles or air fresheners in scents like Fresh Linen,  Spring Rain or Citrus (and of course any floral fragrance is spot on).

SPRUCE UP YOUR WALLS

Even the smallest details can make a BIG difference. If your budget is tight, try giving your baseboards and trim a fresh coat of a bright white paint. Your walls will look refreshed. If you’ve got a little more to play with, try adding an accent wall to your main living space. A darker paint colour, an enticing gallery wall or adding some barn board can change the feel of your space just in time for more sunlight to capture your Instagram worthy facelift.
